2 Manchester United stars change their views about leaving club with Jose news – report

A very interesting news piece from The Guardian in the last 12 hours which suggests that Jose Mourinho wants to sign a raft of new players in his first summer at Manchester United.

But one of his first and biggest tasks could be to tie down a couple of existing members of the squad to new deals.

And, if The Guardian is to be believed, things are looking rosy in that respect, with news that Jose is about to take over the Old Trafford hot seat. They say:

‘De Gea…. was minded to depart should Van Gaal be granted the final season of his contract.’

Despite Carrick being the vice-captain and a regular pick under the 64-year-old Dutchman, the veteran, who is out of contract in the close season, was also seriously contemplating leaving if Van Gaal remained.

However the arrival of Mourinho has changed the view of Carrick and De Gea, and this is also reflected among many of the rest of the squad.

The same source last week stated that De Gea would consider his future if Louis van Gaal remained at Manchester United after this season. Lest we forget, both De Gea and Jose Mourinho are represented by Jorge Mendes.

Keeping Manchester United’s three time winner of the player of the year award would be seen as a big coup in itself.

TFF also believes that clubs offloads their veterans too hastily in many cases. And it surely wouldn’t hurt to keep the superb Michael Carrick at the club for another season. Despite his age, he’s still Manchester United’s best midfielder and he still gets in the team ahead of the likes of big money signings Ander Herrera and Morgan Schneiderlin in the biggest games.

Keeping both would be the best outcome and Manchester United fans may feel more hopeful about that now that Jose seems destined to take over.
