3-4-3: A Chelsea XI to hammer Southampton – pacy addition to the side

Manchester City showed exactly how to dispatch Southampton last weekend with a convincing and rapier like victory against a team which has slowly improved all season but came up short in every department against Pep Guardiola’s men.

And Chelsea will need to show similar instincts this weekend if they want get back on track in the title race.

Just a month ago Chelsea were 13 points clear and seemingly out of sight in the battle for the Premier League.

But a home defeat to Crystal Palace, followed by the weekend reverse to Manchester United and the gap is just four points.

Chelsea do appear to have a much easier run in than Tottenham. But Spurs are on fire right now and, just like Chelsea early this campaign, they look like winning every week.

So it’s going to be an interesting end to the season and TFF feels that this weekend will be absolutely crucial in the destination of the most coveted silverware in English football.

After an almost impossibly injury-free season Chelsea do have a couple of crocks right now as Alonso and Courtois had to pull out of the United game at short-notice.

But both should be fit to regain their places in the starting eleven this weekend.

The one change that we would make is to put Willian in the team at wing back to replace the arguably jaded Nigerian wing back Victor Moses.

Willian could inject some freshness into the wide areas at a crucial time of the season.

So here is TFF’s best XI to hammer Southampton. Chelsea fans: discuss.

Chelsea: Courtois, Cesar, Luiz, Cahill, Alonso, Matic, Kante, Willian, Hazard, Costa, Pedro
