Newly crowned champions Chelsea will enjoy the glory for the coming days and weeks. But you do sense that a manager like Antonio Conte will not rest for long. He’s hellbent on success and will be forging plans for the new season before too long.
British media outlet, The Independent, suggests today that he has six targets for Chelsea over the summer months. But there are two top priorities amongst those.
Virgil van Dijk and Alvaro Morata lead Antonio Conte’s six-man summer transfer target list for Chelsea
The report states that although Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested in the Dutch defender, that Chelsea is his preferred destination and the Blues are increasingly confident that they can do a deal.
Van Dijk has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season for Southampton with some towering performances and beautiful ball playing.
As for Morata he hasn’t always been first choice at Real Madrid this season but he has still managed 20 goals in 41 games – an excellent return.
Some Chelsea fans may think that he would be a pale imitation of Diego Costa who could be on his way this summer but TFF believes that Morata would be an excellent technician and a steady forward.
The other players on the list are Monaco’s TiemouĂ© Bakayoko – a brilliant young central midfielder – Dries Mertens, Fernando Llorente and Romelu Lukaku who Everton will reportedly demand upwards of 75m GBP for this summer.
Chelsea fans: would Morata be as good a signing as Lukaku?
