Agreement reached for Manchester United target – report

Manchester United are pulling themselves together and finally starting to look like a proper team under Jose Mourinho.

But many expect them to add players to all departments in the next two windows and they will surely deepen their offensive options in the not too distant future.

But one player who has often been linked to Manchester United is apparently close to joining Spanish giants Valencia instead.

Sky Sports passes this one on:

VALENCIA BEAT UNITED TO GUEDES?

Valencia have reached a preliminary agreement to sign Manchester United target Goncalo Guedes from Benfica next summer, reports A Bola.

The move is said to include a fee of around 25m Euros and will see the player move at the end of the season.

Too many players have been heralded as the next Cristiano Ronaldo in the past but this kid looks to tick all the boxes in terms of talent. If he can add a consistent end-product to his game we might be looking at a genuine superstar in the next few years.

The 20-year-old, 5ft 10in winger made his debut for Portugal in 2015 and has become a firm favourite at Benfica after his breakthrough campaign last year. He played 31 times and scored four goals last term.

This season he has already improved on that return with 5 goals in 23 games already this season.

He will eventually need to test himself in a better league than Portugal if we are to truly gauge his talents.

But, looking at him now, TFF already feels that Valencia are going to have a job holding on to him for too long if the form continues.

What they can expect is a bumper pay day if the trajectory of this young star continues apace.

Manchester United have been average in the wide areas over the last few seasons and could certainly have used the injection of pace and trickery that Guedes would have brought.

Manchester United fans: a bad miss?
