Arsenal: £20m bid mooted for wide man

Arsenal showed their mettle against a really good quality Bournemouth side in midweek but many Gunners fans were unhappy with the result.

Of course a win is always ideal but the opponent shouldn’t be underestimated and coming back from 3-0 down to any team with half an hour to go is a remarkable feat.

But perhaps those detractors would be happier if Mr.Wenger thrust his hand deep into the company kitty this month and signed a player or two.

The latest to be linked is a precocious talent from Portugal.

British media outlet, The Daily Star, reports:

ARSENAL are weighing up a £20m bid for Porto full-back Ricardo Pereira

The 23-year-old Porto full back has been on loan at Nice for the last two years and played consistently well after forcing his way into the side with 27 appearances last season. This term he has been a virtual ever present with 20 games and one goal under his belt at the half way point of the campaign.

He’s quick and dynamic. His main position is at right back but he can also do a job in midfield or on the left of the defence.

These rumours may lead to further speculation about the future of Hector Bellerin but Pereira is adaptable enough to get a game even in the likely eventuality that the Spaniard stays on.

Arsenal fans – is this a player who could improve your first team or just a squad player?
