Arsenal: Winger bid could spell trouble

Newspaper reports emerged this week that Arsenal have received a bid from Juventus for the services of their popular winger Alexis Sanchez.

In a move that will concern some Arsenal fans The Daily Mail wrote:

Arsenal rebuff approach from Serie A giants Juventus for star attacker Alexis Sanchez

The 27-year-old has has two sensational seasons at Arsenal since his move from Barcelona in 2014.

In total he has played 93 games for Arsenal and scored 42 goals, 17 of those coming in 41 appearances last season.

The Chilean international has also made 100 appearances for his country and scored 34 times.

Arsenal were said to immediately rebuff the bid but the fact that Juventus have been sniffing around could alert other clubs to the idea that the player may be open to a move.

Although it is widely accepted that the form of Sanchez dipped somewhat from his first stellar season at the club, he is still one of the best players in The Premier League and probably the best at Arsenal.

The club will definitely not want to lose a player who can cut through defences like butter and has the rare ability to match his superb wing play with end-product and goals.

But with these types of players increasingly hard to find Arsenal will need to be very assertive this summer if they want to hold on to the 27-year-old.

Losing him would be a massive blow and he’d be virtually impossible to replace this summer.

Sanchez currently has two years left on his contract at Arsenal and there has been talk of him signing a new deal but terms haven’t yet been agreed.
