‘Very Near’: Arsenal close to another signing on deadline day according to journalist – report

Arsenal have finally done some major transfer business over the last few days to add Shkrodan Mustafi and Lucas Perez to the ranks.

But that may not be the end of their summer spend as latest reports suggest that, wait for it, yet another midfielder is on Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger’s radar.

British media outlet, The Daily Star, reports:

ARSENAL are very close to signing Paraguayan midfielder Miguel Almiron, according to reports in his homeland.

And the report also quotes the agent of the player who apparently stated:

“Miguel Almiron is very near the Arsenal of England. €9.4m (£8m) [deal].”

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder made his debut for Paraguay last year and is highly regarded in his home country. He moved from local club Cerro Porteno to Lanus in Argentina last year as his stock rose.

He made 16 appearances in Argentina and scored 1 goal in a good start to his career in the big time.

And now Arsenal are apparently keen. But the idea of yet another attacking midfelder coming into the squad is hard to digest.

Arsenal have so much quality and depth in the midfield that they are about to allow Jack Wilshere to go on loan. Meanwhile players like Elneny, Ramsey, Coquelin, Xhaka, Cazorla and others are fighting for a berth in a very competitive midfield.

If there is substance to the report it looks as if Arsene Wenger is having yet another of his mid-priced punts on a player who could turn out to be something special.

Let’s have a look at him in action. Arsenal fans: Another waste of money or does this young man really have a chance to make it in the first team?
