Star Agrees to Join: Arsenal make breakthrough with superb target – reports

Arsene Wenger’s tempo in the transfer market often generates the thought that he may be better suited to the world of cricket.

And it must be infuriating for Arsenal fans to see how slowly these deals generally get done when the club has been positively aching for a top centre back and a top striker for years.

But all may not be lost. Because if Arsenal can get a deal over the line for Shkrodan Mustafi the club will immediately improve their first XI and have found a perfect successor for the ever slowing Per Mertesacker. Merstesacker is an able and highly experienced player who can still play an important squad role.

But it’s time that The Gunners freshened up with a truly convincing partner for Laurent Koscielny. And Mustafi looks like the real deal.

Reports today suggest that talks are ongoing for a player who may end up costing up to £30m. But TFF thinks that, in today’s market, he’s worth every penny.

Highly respected British media outlet, The Times, reckons:

Arsenal close to £20m deal for Mustafi

Arsenal are moving towards a breakthrough in negotiations to sign Shkodran Mustafi

And Sky Sports went further this afternoon by stating that:

To the latest on Arsenal’s pursuit of Shkodran Mustafi now, and our colleagues at Sky in Germany report the Valencia defender has agreed to join the club.

And The London Evening Standard:

Shkodran Mustafi has agreed personal terms with Arsenal as the Gunners move closer to adding their second significant signing of the transfer window.

Arsene Wenger can often resemble a tight grandma where it comes to spending money but he must recognise the quality of the investment that he would be making with a player who is forcing is way into the German national side despite the presence of Mats Hummels and Benedikt Howedes.

Indeed, we believe that Wenger’s biggest problem could be holding on to a player who will surely attract further interest from other clubs in his career.

But, for now, the mission must be to get this one done and dusted in the next few days.
