Arsenal are being linked in the latest news cycle with a move for the burgeoning talents of a young playmaker who has been one of the most impressive performers in the brilliant Monaco side this season.
British media outlet, The Daily Mirror, reports:
Arsenal eye Thomas Lemar transfer from Monaco as part of much-needed summer squad revamp
The 21-year-old tops Arsene Wenger’s midfield shopping list after helping his club to the Champions League semi-finals
The 21-year-old burst onto the scene at Monaco in 2015 after a move from Caen in France where he had only played 31 league games after his debut in 2013.
But his potential was quickly spotted by the French giants and he didn’t take long to slot straight into one of the most exciting teams in European football.
He’s already played 86 games for Monaco over the last two seasons and scored 19 goals – a remarkable total for one so young and in a top league. This season he has been a virtual ever-present in the Monaco team with 54 appearances and 14 goals in a memorable campaign.
And his form and brilliance hasn’t gone unnoticed at International level either. Lemar was called up to the France squad for his debut in 2016 against Sweden. Lemar now has two has for France and we should expect him to play a lot more for Les Blues in the coming seasons.
He’s a wonderfully composed and fluent player for one so young. He has the fearlessness of youth and an eye for a key pass. He hits the ball beautifully and can play off either foot with ease.
He looks tailor made of Arsenal and is exactly the sort of silky technician that Arsene Wenger adores.
