Arsenal defeated Bournemouth away from home in their last Premier League contest and now, they are just a single point behind Chelsea, who currently occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

Unai Emery has done a great job so far since replacing Arsene Wenger at the club but he needs to improve the quality and depth of the team to challenge for the league title.

According to reports (Mirror Sport), Arsenal are keen on luring French international Tanguy Ndombele. The British outlet have mentioned that Liverpool and Everton are also looking to sign the Lyon midfielder, who is valued at around £70million (Manchester Evening News).

Player’s situation:

Back in September, Ndombele signed a new deal with the French club which will expire in 2023. For now, he is content but he has not ruled out a move away from the club (MEN via L’Equipe).

“For now I am happy and it is good for me. But if in six months I am not happy, maybe we’ll talk about it a bit more”

Our verdict:

The north Londoners do have more than a few defensive midfielders in the team but they do not have decent creative center midfielders.

In the past few years, Aaron Ramsey has arguably been their best center midfielder but the Welsh international will be out of contract next summer and it will not come as any surprise if he leaves the club in the upcoming winter transfer window.

If that happens, then Arsenal must splash the cash to sign a replacement and someone like Ndombele would be a top signing. Like Ramsey, the 21-year-old star is a versatile talent, who can play anywhere in the midfield and can also play in the attacking third if needed. We expect him to partner Torreira in the center of the park if he ends up moving to the Emirates.

In the current campaign, the Les Bleus midfielder has so far featured in 19 games (all competitions) for the Ligue 1 club, scored 2 goals and provided 4 assists. With top performances for Lyon, he deservedly earned his place in France’s national side. Ndomblele made his debut last month and so far, he has made 4 appearances for the Les Bleus.

Last night, he was impressive in the DM role against Manchester City and stopped their attacking threat from open play. The Sky Blues were able to score both their goals from set-piece situations.

In your opinion, should Arsenal sign Ndombele to replace Ramsey?
