Arsenal linked with top pass master

It says everything about the quality of the partnership between Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand that the brilliant Gerard Pique couldn’t even get a look in in his time at Manchester United.

Every time TFF saw him play for the club he looked like a quality defender – a player with real finesse as well as with the ability to do the nuts and bolts of defending properly with assurance.

Having had a sensational career at Barcelona the latest rumours suggest that he may be on his way back to the Premier League with either Arsenal or Chelsea prepared to stump up the cash to bring him to London.

That’s according to The Guardian who reports that the player might be about to move clubs.

Still only 29 years of age the Spanish international has played 85 times for his country and scored four goals in a career littered with trophies from the top drawer.

He’s scored 35 goals in 376 games over the course of nine glorious seasons with Barcelona and this is a player who has pretty much won the lot. He is an excellent passer of the ball, reads the game beautifully and his overall technique is wonderful.

At 29 he still has three or four years left at the top level and having some Premier League experience already can only help him re-integrate into the English league with Arsenal or Chelsea.

Arsenal look pretty well provided for at the bank right now with Mustafi and Koscielny forming a good partnership this season. But we wouldn’t be surprised if there was Arsenal interest for a player who has won the lot.

Arsenal fans – any substance to this one?
