Arsenal target shock move for rival’s 36 cap international

Arsenal are targeting a move for Manchester United’s versatile 36 cap Dutch international Daley Blind, according to weekend reports.

The Sunday People observes:

Meanwhile, £16m Dutch defender Daley Blind has emerged as a target for Arsenal, with Mourinho yet to make a decision on whether the versatile star is his type of player.

The 26-year-old has been regarded as one of the better performing signings that sacked manager Louis van Gaal made for Manchester United with 85 appearances and 4 goals for the club in two seasons of almost ever-present action.

But it is difficult to see where he fits in to the Jose Mourinho template and TFF has stated its belief already that he will be one of the players to leave Manchester United this summer.

Daley Blind is a talented and technically proficient player. But Mourinho likes really powerful warriors in his defence. Blind doesn’t tick that box.

Likewise in the midfield, the ex-Chelsea man usually likes dynamic batters or really gifted midfielders. And while Blind is a dependable player, he isn’t big and isn’t a wizard in the same manner as someone like Cesc Fabregas.

So he may have to either settle for a place in the squad as a utility man next season at Old Trafford, or be moved on.

And, despite his virtues, we think that the latter scenario is more likely. Which could indeed spell a move to Arsenal.

Arsenal fans – would this be a good move for the club or would Blind find himself on the peripheries of the Gunners squad as well?
