Arsenal: Petr Cech arrives at The Emirates for medical as deal nears completion

Cech is injured

Great news for Gunners fans today as reports have revealed that Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has arrived at The Emirates to complete a medical ahead of his expected move to Arsenal.

A fee was agreed for the player earlier in the week and Cech will move to North London when today’s formalities are completed, according to The Guardian:

The signing of Cech could prove to be a key piece of business for Arsenal, who haven’t won The Premier League in over decade. They last took the title in 2004 with the team dubbed ‘The Invincibles’.

Since then they have employed keepers like Manuel Almunia and Wojciech Szczęsny who, while proficient, possibly haven’t been of the calibre required to provide a foundation to win the league.

No such allegation can be levelled at Cech. He’s been one of the best keepers that The Premier League has seen and won the championship four times with Chelsea. Add to that four FA Cup triumphs and a Champions League winners medal – he was also a runner up in Moscow in 2008 – and you have a serial winner from the very top drawer.

At 33 he can be expected to offer at least a couple of top seasons to Arsenal and this will surely bring them that much closer to the league success that the fans so desperately crave.

Expect fireworks in North London tonight as Arsenal fans celebrate the signing of a world class talent.
