Arsenal: Reported target says he’s had offers from England but is he the answer?

Amidst the maelstrom of uncertainty at Arsenal right now there remains the prospect of some serious player investment this summer.

And one reported target has suggested that the Premier League is an appealing destination for him during the autumn years of his career.

Bayern Munich defender Rafinha has only been involved from the start of nine games for the German giants this season and, based on his latest quotes in FourFourTwo magazine, he’s attracted to the English league.

I don’t like to talk about offers – I have managers for that. But it’s true, those offers are real,”

“I have a few offers from Premier League clubs.
“I’d rather not say [which clubs] because it’s confidential. I’m playing for Bayern Munich, one of the greatest clubs in Europe. I’m very happy here, but I am also happy to know that there are other clubs interested in my work.

“It’s not the first time that something like that has happened. Obviously, every player is fascinated by the Champions League. I would like to learn another language. Why not?

The 31-year-old veteran has been a solid performer at the top level for most of his career.

Born in Londrina, Brazil, the 5ft 7in right back started his career at Coritiba before moving to Europe with Schalke in 2005. There he enjoyed a really solid five seasons, playing 153 times and scoring seven goals as part of a first choice line up.

He had a season in Genoa before moving back to Germany and is now in his sixth season with the Munich giants.

He’s got decent pace and an excellent football brain but whether Arsenal fans would see him as an improvement on the current squad remains open to debate. And the fans would surely be fuming if Arsenal brought him in as a replacement for the brilliant Hector Bellerin.

Arsenal fans: is he the sort of solid and adaptable player that you need or is this another step backwards in the transfer market?
