Arsenal to sign powerful wide man on July 1st – report

The biggest question surrounding Arsenal this summer is surely whether their manager Arsene Wenger can survive another summer and still be in the hot seat come August. He clearly wants to retain his position as the head honcho at the Emirates but increasingly large swathes of Arsenal support wants him out.

But the typical Arsenal resurgence has happened over the last few weeks and they are now close to Champions League qualification again. If Manchester City or Liverpool slip in the final couple of games of the season then expect Arsenal to once more take their place at the top table of European football.

So perhaps Wenger will get to implement his transfer plans for this summer after all. And surely he’s going to go big. One of the players who could well join the club is the highly sought-after Schalke defender Sead Kolasinac and ESPN writes:

The powerful full back is a really strong all-rounder and we could easily imagine him being an excellent purchase for Arsenal in the Premier League next season. With Nacho Monreal coming towards the end of his career Kolasinac could be an excellent long-term replacement and is also adaptable enough to play in the centre of defence if required.

At 23 he has his best years in front of him and already has 18 caps at international level for Bosnia and Herzegovina. He’s been ever present for Schalke when fit and TFF believes that he would be a better player than Monreal as someone who could defend but also get forward and put beautiful balls into the box.

Arsenal fans – a solid replacement for Monreal?
