Arsenal in for double swoop – report

When will Arsene learn? The more optimistic among the Arsenal faithful had hoped that the Arsenal manager may finally stop scrambling around in the bargain basement mud this summer and instead concentrate on signing a couple of top players who would surely tip the balance in terms of serious silverware.

But latest reports suggest that he’s looking at promising youngsters again. Haven’t Arsenal got enough of those?

British media outlet, The Sun, reports:

Arsenal transfer news: Gunners in for double swoop for Manchester City’s Jason Denayer and Borussia Dortmund’s Matthias Ginter

21-year-old Denayer is a decent player who has turned out 7 times for the golden generation Belgium squad. He replaced the injured Jan Vertonghen in Belgium’s ill-fated game against Wales at EURO 2016.

But Manchester City haven’t seen fit to use him often on the front line and he’s been on loan twice, to Celtic and Galatasaray.

As for Ginter, he has similarly promising credentials but is again a player who may or may not blossom. The 6ft 3in centre back has played 14 times for Germany since his debut in 2014 and 35 times for Dortmund.

But, having lost Mats Hummels to Bayern Munich this summer, Borussia may want to hold on to the rest of their defenders at his point – particularly a home grown international.

Here are some of Ginter’s best moments. Arsenal fans: is Arsene barking up the right tree?
