Arsenal want to complete £27m deal for playmaker – report

Arsenal are limbering up for a summer of further transfer business by making a move for Bayern Munich’s World Cup winner Mario Gotze according to various media reports around Europe.

Gunners want to land ‘Die Mannschaft’ playmaker in £27million deal

The 24-year-old Germany international who has 53 caps and 17 goals for his country hasn’t always been first choice amongst a vast array of stars at the Bundesliga giant and there has been speculation about a move for some time.

Gotze moved to Bayern from Borussia Dortmund in 2013 and has hit a creditable 36 goals in 114 games for the club.

But TFF wouldn’t be at all surprised if he moved to Arsenal or Liverpool this summer in order to kick his career on and become central to a team.

Quite where Gotye would line up for Arsenal is the subject of debate. He is possibly most happy at number 10 but Mesut Ozil has that place nailed down.

So perhaps we could see the German international on the wing for an Arsenal team which is always so close to a league title but never seems to break through the glass ceiling.

So while he may not be the obvious player for Arsenal to sign – i.e. another creative player in a team that clearly needs more steel – he is good enough to get starts every week for The Gunners.

Arsenal supporters: a wise use of the transfer fund?
