Chelsea superstar flirts with Real Madrid

However well Chelsea do in the transfer market this summer they’re going to have serious issues if they can’t hold onto Eden Hazzard. Because replacing a player of this calibre is going to be nigh on impossible.

But there have been lingering rumours about the prospect of the Chelsea star moving to Real Madrid and he’s done nothing to extinguish those concerns in his latest public utterances.

British media outlets the Daily Mail reports:

Asked about Real’s interest, Hazard, on international duty with Belgium, mused: ‘We all have our dreams.’

Hazard has been a superb player for Chelsea over the last five seasons but he has no particular affiliation with the club and may well see this as the perfect opportunity to move on. If the Madrid interest is real – and with an ageing front line they could well be looking to invest in a more youthful talisman – then this could be the big move of the summer.

Real Madrid’s frontline currently comprises Cristiano Rinaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale. They are seasoned internationals but none of them are young and Hazard had a least a couple of contracts left in him at the age of 26.

He’s been one of the best players in the Premier League again this season and creates as much as he scores with 17 goals in 42 appearances for the club. His fitness was also excellent and he looks like a superb prospect if Real Madrid can spend the amount of cash that Chelsea will want for one of the top players in the world.

Chelsea fans – do you think you’ve seen the last of Hazard in a Chelsea shirt?
