Bad News For Manchester City in their pursuit of Belgian forward?

When you are dealing with the sorts of figures that may yet take Kevin de Bruyne to Manchester City this summer, it’s never going to be that easy to thrash out a deal.

But Manchester City’s attempt to prise the brilliant winger from Wolfsburg may have just got a whole lot harder with news today that there is interest from several other giants of the modern game.

Because Sky Sports quotes the Wolfsburg manager, Dieter Hecking, as saying:

Despite my esteem for Manchester City, I have to say that Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have all expressed an interest in Kevin de Bruyne and there have been approaches for him. He will only leave if there is an extraordinary offer for him. I am not ruling anything out and we will listen to offers, but in reality we could allow him to leave for a huge offer.”

This could of course simply be a scare tactic to get Manchester City to pay what Wolfsburg want for the 24 year old Belgian international. We have seen the tactic employed many times before.

But it would be easy to imagine that the aforementioned clubs could show an interest in a player who lit up The Bundesliga last season.

De Bruyne: Quite brilliant going forward
De Bruyne: Master Creator

According to the Wolfsburg boss he is one of the most sought after players in Europe. And that is because he is more about stats than fancy footwork. He’s a direct winger, who scores and creates in abundance, and is a team man to boot.

With under three weeks to go until the window closes, a big percentage of the transfer budget of clubs across Europe is about to to be spent as the talking stops and deals get pushed through.

And having reportedly already tabled an offer in the region of £47m for the brilliant Belgian, we think that this deal can’t be too far away for Manchester City as they look to take the title back from Chelsea and get out of the group stages in Europe.
