Catalan giants Barcelona are unsure whether they wish to sign Manchester United loan star Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal this summer. There is a clause in the forward’s contract that means they can sign him on for a fee of around €30m (£21.1m).

The fee seems to be the main sticking point in completing a permanent deal, as the reigning Spanish champions are not keen on paying the fee, and United are unlikely to budge on the forward’s valuation.
Rashford has been and out of the team in Catalonia
It was always going to be difficult for Rashford to establish himself as a regular starter at Barcelona, considering the wealth of attacking talent at their disposal.
Rashford is competing with the likes of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal for a starting spot on the flanks, while facing competition from Ferran Torres and veteran Robert Lewandowski up front.
The 28-year-old has made 43 appearances for Hansi Flick’s team in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and producing 13 assists. However, he has started just 15 games in La Liga and five in the Champions League, illustrating the fact that he is not considered a vital player for the Catalan club.
His performances have been unconvincing since the turn of the year, raising doubts over his chances of becoming a permanent member of the Barcelona squad.
Could Rashford resurrect his career at United?

With doubts over completing a move to Barcelona, a return to his parent club, United, for next season is a high possibility. Various new outlets claim that Rashford isn’t ruling out resurrecting his career at Old Trafford.
Although Rashford’s form had dipped before his switch to Catalonia, the main reason for his exit was reportedly a fallout with former Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim.
However, the former Sporting CP boss has now left the club, and after a successful interim spell in charge, it looks likely that Michael Carrick will be given a longer deal in the summer.
Whether Carrick would be willing to give Rashford the chance to resurrect his career is only the United head coach who knows. One way or the other, Rashford’s future will be sorted out in the summer.
