22-year-old has caught the eye of Manchester United manager

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is said to be keen on the services of Portugal international Bernardo Silva, according to The Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been at Monaco since 2014 and has firmly established himself in the first team with 109 appearances and a very impressive 22 goals in that time.

With Manchester United in need of a successor to Michael Carrick in the long-term, Silva’s name has been mentioned of late.

But the report states that the player has no intention of leaving the French club just yet.

He is quoted as saying:

‘They’re the club that has enabled me to play at this level,’

‘The ambition of players is of course to play in Spain or England one day, but for the moment, I feel very good at Monaco.’

So while he is paying lip service to Monaco it seems to us that he could well be persuaded to join Manchester United if they made a serious move.

Silva has progressed so quickly that he has already made ten appearances for the Portugal senior team and scored once so far.

He’s quick and technically gifted. At 5ft 8in he’s no powerhouse but more about guile than graft.

Let’s see some of the better moments in his career so far.

Manchester United fans: could he make a difference to the first team or is he too similar to Ander Herrera?
