Big Changes: 9 players have now left Manchester United this summer

Although there haven’t been any major departures from Manchester United so far this summer, there is a definite sense of uncertainty surrounding the futures of several high profile Red Devils.

Juan Mata is unlucky that the man who sold him to Manchester United, Jose Mourinho, is now his boss again and the Community Shield furore will have done nothing for his confidence.

Adnan Januzaj will surely have to find another club – on a temporary basis at least. And Andreas Pereira is another youngster on the peripheries of the first team squad who need more minutes. A loan move may do him the world of good.

And Bastian Scwheinsteiger has probably played his last game for Manchester United.

But there has been a lot of outward business among the lower ranked and younger players. TFF updates you on all the exits so far.

Guillermo Varela (Eintracht Frankfurt)

The 23-year-old had some promising performances for Manchester United last season. He’s pacy and adventurous but sometimes his defending is a little suspect. He’s too old to be playing reserve team football so a season long loan to Germany should give Jose definitive evidence as to whether he has a future at United.

Paddy McNair (Sunderland)

Another who showed real promise in glimpses and we remember him anchoring the defence away at Chelsea not too long ago. But defensive lapses cost him and he moved to Sunderland in a permanent move this week.

Donald Love (Sunderland)

Never got his feet under the table of the first team and went with McNair to Sunderland in a double deal worth around £5.5m

Victor Valdes (Middlesbrough)

The tempestuous relationship with Louis van Gaal boiled over last season and Valdes is now expecting regular football at newly promoted Middlesbrough.

Nick Powell (Wigan Athletic)

A talented player but we always felt that he was a little too nonchalant for Manchester United. That was until he tried to get every United player stretchered off in his half hour cameo against his old team in pre-season.

Joe Rothwell (Oxford United)

United apparently offered him a new deal but he chose to move permanently to Oxford.

Ashley Fletcher (West Ham United)

The 20-year-old striker was highly rated by Manchester United youth team coach Warren Joyce but he turned down a new contract to move to West Ham in a permanent deal.

Tyler Reid (Swansea City)

Undisclosed fee. Three year deal with Swansea.

Jimmy Dunne (Burnley)

Burnley signed the defender on a free transfer in a two year deal with the option for a third year.
