The Next Henry? Can this youngster really spearhead Manchester United?

Manchester United have undoubtedly steadied the ship under Jose Mourinho but they need more goals.

And when Zlatan doesn’t score there is a worrying lack of them coming from the rest of the team.

Juan Mata is Manchester United’s second top scorer this season with nine goals and he isn’t even a regular starter.

It’s not a normal situation for Manchester United who have had at least two players in double figures each season since 1981. Indeed, under Sir Alex Ferguson, it wasn’t uncommon for United to end the campaign with five players scoring 10 or more.

So the situation needs to be addressed in the summer as a priority. United need more firepower and various names have been bandied around over the last few months.

Antoine Griezmann has been strongly linked but The Independent reported this week that Manchester United may turn their attention to Robert Lewnadowski and Kylian Mbappe.

The youngster is of particular interest to TFF. Because while Manchester City clearly got one over on their rivals with the signing of the brilliant Gabriel Jesus, this signing could be the perfect response for Manchester United.

At 18 the Frenchman is clearly benefiting from the fearlessness of youth. Who knows how well he will develop. But 15 goals in 29 games for Monaco at the top level of French football this season cannot be ignored.

Add seven in 11 for France 21s and TFF can see that this guy is all about goals.

He’s not dissimilar in build to Jesus but his elegance, movement and penchant for drifting in from the left reminds us much more of the sensational Thierry Henry.

Manchester United need pace and ruthless finishing in their attack and the idea of a youthful front line of Rashford, Martial and Mbappe is mouthwatering to say the least
