Chelsea: Antonio Conte confident of signing 119 goal man with improved offer

Chelsea have done great business this summer but they clearly aren’t happy with their lot and rumours are still rife of more substantial investment at both ends of the park.

N’Golo Kante and Mich Batshuayi have signed, with a whopping deal for Kalidou Koulibaly in the balance.

But despite Diego Costa seeming happier at the club again, Conte reportedly wants another top striker.

The latest to be linked is Chelsea old boy Romelu Lukaku.

The Express writes:

CHELSEA boss Antonio Conte is ready to break the bank for Romelu Lukaku with an improved £60million bid to break Everton’s stubborn resistance.

The Goodison club have already rejected a £57m bid for the Belgian striker, who has told friends he wants to return to Stamford Bridge this summer.

TFF likes Lukaku and he has great qualities for The Premier League as his 61 goals in 127 games for Everton amply demonstrate.

And at just 23 he has time to improve. He would definitely score goals aplenty for Chelsea.

But, for that sort of figure, TFF has slight reservations about the technique of the player. He does regularly show deft touches and good ability to go with his power, pace and positional awareness.

But his touch does seem to let him down periodically and we weren’t too impressed with him at EURO 2016.

It’s probably folly to make an argument about whether Romelu Lukaku is worth £60m. Fees have simply gone crazy over the last few years.

But he would add power and goals to the Chelsea sqaud so, overall, you’d have to say that he would be a good signing.

Chelsea fans: the best option?
