Bid Made: Chelsea lodge major offer for huge 25-year-old

Chelsea have made a bid of £19.2m for the services of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror reports:

The Blues have made a £19.2m bid for the 24-year-old, which has already been rejected by Napoli

He’s actually just turned 25 and is valued at £30m by Napoli and, as we know, the Italian clubs are known to drive a hard bargain. But perhaps we should expect to see them meet somewhere in the middle if this deal is to get over the line.

Chelsea are in serious need of reinforcements in defence. TFF doesn’t like to call it an ‘ageing’ defence. Because which defence isn’t ageing? But the two stalwarts, John Terry and Gary Cahill are 35 and 30 respectively. Beyond that there is Kurt Zouma who, while promising, hasn’t yet proven that he is the man for the next decade at Chelsea.

The 25-year-old Kalidou Koulibaly is built like a tank. He’s played 6 times for Senegal and been a major influence at Napoli since he joined the club in 2014.

He’s been an almost ever-present for the club in that time with 81 appearances over two seasons and one goal scored.

Oh, and lest we forget, the Chelsea target stands at a monstrous 6ft 5in – Antonio Conte might have to get a ladder for the photo shoot if Chelsea do make the signing.

Here are some of his best moments for Napoli. Chelsea fans – are you confident that Kalidou Koulibaly is the man for the job?
