Chelsea: Superstar not in Conte’s plans – report

Chelsea have offered their superstar midfielder, Cesc Fabregas, to Juventus according to Italian media outlet Tuttosport. The Daily Mail picks up on this one and they say:

Chelsea have refused to sell Nemanja Matic to Juventus but have instead offered the Italian giants Cesc Fabregas.

The 29-year-old Spain international of 105 caps and 15 goals has been at Chelsea for two seasons.

In that time he’s played 94 games and scored 11 goals.

But he is generally regarded as having had a far better debut season at Chelsea than he did last term, despite scoring on more goal (6) than in the previous campaign.

And although it may seem foolish to suggest that Chelsea will offload such a big talent so early in Antonio Conte’s tenure, the rumour does make some sense.

Because the Italian loves power and pace and, for all his qualities, Cesc is running low on those traits. He does seem to have dropped off the pace a little over the last year and has lost some of his dynamism and speed of thought.

A technical league like Serie A could really suit him any this stage of his career and Juventus are said to be looking for more creativity after losing Paul Pogba for a world record fee to Manchester United earlier this week.

Chelsea have N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic in the midfield ranks but if they do sell Fabregas it’s easy to imagine another creative signing before the window closes.

We shall keep you updated on any movements as they happen with this one.
