Chelsea confident of landing celebrated playmaker – report

As the transfer window countdown continues it becomes ever more apparent that Chelsea will be one of the big players in the January market.

They are being linked with superstars left, right and centre and there seems to be such purpose and haste in Chelsea and Antonio Conte’s work right now. They have the bit between their teeth and are hell-bent on bringing the title back to Stamford Bridge.

One player who continues to be linked could be seen as a possible replacement for Spanish maestro Cesc Fabregas.

British media outlet, The Metro, reported today:

Chelsea remain confident of landing PSG playmaker Marco Verratti

The Italy international who has made 19 appearances for his country since his debut in 2012 was an instant hit from the moment he moved to PSG.

The diminutive playmaker who moved from Italian side Pescara in 2012 has played 173 times for the French side and scored five goals.

As the statistics suggest, this isn’t a natural goalscorer but much more of an assist maker who reads the game beautifully and is great at making key passes early.

Whether he is a noticeably better player than Cesc Fabregas remains to be seen but Antonio Conte has hit the nail on the head with all of his signings so far and if there is substance to this rumour then perhaps we are about to see another great midfielder in the Premier League.

Chelsea fans – could you see him slotting straight into the first team at Stamford Bridge?
