Chelsea look to be having a clear out of the dead wood before their summer assault on the transfer market and three departures have been confirmed by the club today.
The Official website confirmed:
With contracts having come to an end, we today say farewell to three players who were part of the squad during last season – Falcao, Pato and Marco Amelia.
Radamel Falcao
It’s difficult not to feel sorry for a superstar whose career has been ruined by serious successive knee injuries.
Falcao came to England on a wave of hype about him being ready to do the business again. But 29 appearances and just 4 goals were followed by a move to Chelsea last season.
There Falcao managed just 12 games and 1 goal. Manchester United and Chelsea fans will wish him the best as he returns to his old club Monaco in another attempt to reignite his career.
Alexandre Pato
What a bizarre loan signing. There was a suggestion that Pato could ignite the Chelsea front line after a surprisingly underwhelming first half of last season. But the 26-year-old returns to Brazil with just two Chelsea appearances and one goal. A stranger signing you will struggle to find.
Marco Amelia
The goalkeeper played even lass games for Chelsea after a hurried loan moved to Stamford Bridge in October 2015 after Thibaut Courtois was injured. The 34-year-old returns to Italy with zero games played for The Blues.
