Report: Chelsea keen on stellar wide man

Chelsea beat a stubborn West Ham XI on Monday night but Antonio Conte was like a twelfth man for the home side and there is definitely room for improvement before the window closes.

No doubt Chelsea would like to bring in another centre back and perhaps another striker.

But reports today suggest that Chelsea are keen to bring another left-back to the club. The Mirror states:

Chelsea are weighing up a move for Germany left-back Jonas Hector before the transfer window closes.

The report states that the player signed a new deal with his club just this summer but that it hasn’t stymied the interest of Antonio Conte.

The 26-year-old wide man has played 20 times for Germany since his debut in 2014. He’s something of a late developer but he seems to have nailed down his position in the national team now and hit the winning penalty kick in EURO 2016 quarter finals.

He’s played 132 times for Koln in Germany and become part of the furniture there. But perhaps this is his time for a big move.

He’s fast, energetic and loves to get forward. And although Chelsea have an excellent left-back in Cesar Azplicueta, he is naturally a right-sided player and questions continue to be asked about the form and age of current right back Branislav Ivanovic.

With Baba Rahman out on loan for the season Chelsea do look a bit light in the wide areas and Hector could be a superb solution for Chelsea.

Let’s see some of his best moments. Chelsea fans: a wise addition?
