Chelsea linked with powerful signing – perfect addition?

TFF has spoken much already this month about the fact that Chelsea’s wingbacks are going to have to get through a huge amount of work this season.

The likes of Alonso and Moses have duel roles in as much as they have to defend the wide areas but also provide crosses and penetration at the other end.

Chelsea don’t appear to have a lot of cover in these departments. Willian could pretty much play anywhere and Cesar could also do a job on the left or right flanks.

But TFF would be surprised if another one or two players weren’t added to those areas in January and the latest to be linked would surely be tempted by a move.

British media outlet, The Sun, reports that Chelsea could be in for one of the standout players in the Premier League over the last year.

They say:

Chelsea transfer news: Antonio Conte to make sensational switch for West Ham powerhouse Michail Antonio

The 26-year-old is of course a winger by trade but he would be more than capable of playing that wingback role. Because he can track back, tackle and generally put in the hard yards, as well as offering a fantastic outlet in attack.

With an excellent 17 goals in 58 games since he moved from Nottingham Forest to West Ham in 2015, Antonio has also made his way into the England set up but is yet to make his debut for the Three Lions.

TFF thinks that he would be an excellent purchase for Chelsea. Any doubts about his level of finesse would be more than washed away by the all action qualities that he does possess.
