Highly Respected Source: Chelsea and Manchester United will have to pay £100m for powerhouse

Manchester United and Chelsea may well go head-to-head this summer for the expensive talents of Belgian international Romelu Lukaku.

Chelsea sold the player a few years back but seemingly want to bring him back to Stamford Bridge this summer and it’s going to cost them a fortune.

That’s according to British media outlet, The Times, which reports that the price tag is 100 million GBP.

They say:

Everton are braced for offers from Chelsea and Manchester United for Romelu Lukaku and believe that their £100 million valuation will stave off interest in their leading goalscorer.

Manchester United could well look to supplement their forward line with another number nine as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is pushing 36 years of age and might not have too much time left in the game at the top level.

As for Chelsea, they could lose Diego Costa this summer, as he may be keen on a move to another league and a big pay day.

Lukaku was the second top scorer in the Premier League last season behind only Harry Kane. He seems to score goals wherever he goes and has hit 87 for Everton in 166 games at a ratio of one every two games – that’s a brilliant ratio for a player at a non-elite club and he can only improve by moving to Chelsea or Manchester United.

But TFF isn’t convinced that this is a player for the very top echelons of the game.

He’s an excellent Premier League striker who roughs up defenders and causes all sorts of problems. But would he be able to make a difference in the semi-final of the Champions League for example? Has he got the mobility and technical brilliance to change a game at the very top level? We aren’t so sure.

Chelsea and Manchester United fans – is he worth anywhere near this amount of money or should you be looking at other players like Kylian Mbappe?
