There are few genuine shocks in the transfer market these days, with ever more ears close to the ground in all corners of the industry, and fingers ready to Tweet any whiff of a rumour.

But Chelsea’s last-gasp move for Michy Batshuayi has to go into that category.

Just yesterday TFF was reporting that Tottenham looked set to win the race of for the prolific 22-year-old striker but Chelsea came from nowhere to seemingly get the deal close to completion.

The transfer fee is said to be around £33.2m and Chelsea could still be interested in signing Alvaro Morata, even if they do get this deal over the line, which seems very likely at this point.

Michy Batshuayi has already played 6 times for Belgium and scored 3 goals. He scored one of those goals in the defeat of Hungary at EURO 2016.

He scored 44 in 120 games at Standard Liege in Belgium before a move to Marseille in 2014 for a fee of £4.5m.

The Brussels born forward scored 10 goals in 28 games on his debut season in France and really exploded last term with 23 in 50.

Overall his record in France reads played 78, scored 33 – an excellent scoring record for one so young.

The 22-year-old is quick and strong and looks tailor-made for the The Premier League with his physical style and power.
