Chelsea monitoring the star of EURO 2016 – Oscar replacement?

Chelsea are keen on the brilliant French forward Dmitri Payet according to latest reports in England.

British media outlet, The Mirror, states:

Chelsea are monitoring Payet’s situation but it is the interest of Spanish giants Real Madrid that is likely to cause more alarm for Hammers chiefs.

Payet has been nothing short of sensational since he moved to England with West Ham and outshone many other more expensive imports.

The 29-year-old late bloomer hit 12 goals in 38 games for West Ham last season and provided even more assists.

But it’s his rise through the France ranks that has been almost incredible. Payet wasn’t even a certainty for the squad a couple of months ago but he has passed every test at international level with flying colours.

He has to be described as at least one of the stars of Euro 2016 with two great goals so far in the competition.

So much so that it is difficult to see West Ham holding on to him this summer, despite their excellent season and move into a new stadium.

If Payet really does have the pick of clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid it will be hard for him to turn down a massive pay day and the chance to compete at the very top level in The Champions League next season.

At 29 he really is a late bloomer and we have to imagine that he would take the chance to join Chelsea who may look to replace the underwhelming Oscar at number 10 next season under the new management of Antonio Conte.

Chelsea fans: is he worth the money?
