Chelsea: Negotations to open on 50m Euro signing

Chelsea will apparently spend little time celebrating this summer and go straight for the jugular in the transfer market. That is according to British media outlet, The Telegraph, who suggests today that Antonio Conte’s side will open negotiations next week for the signing of the brilliant French midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko.

Chelsea will step up their efforts to sign Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko next week with the midfielder expected to cost more than €50 million (£42.7m).

Telegraph Sport understands that Chelsea will open negotiations for the 22 year-old as part of a significant recruitment drive

The 22-year-old dynamo made his debut for France this year and that really represents the progress that he’s made in such a short time. He was nowhere near the national side just a year ago but he’s been so good for Monaco – an integral part of their success in winning the title in France – he now looks a shoe-in for a first-team spot for club and country wherever he plays.

Bakayoko moved from Rennes in 2014 and has played 91 times and scored five goals for Monaco over the last three seasons.

He is a box to box midfielder with unbelievable energy levels and he also has the sort of technique that you would expect from a French international midfielder. Just over 6ft tall he really does tick most of the boxes for a top, modern midfielder and Chelsea may not have it all their own way in terms of trying to entice him to the club. Because a player of this age and profile.

Chelsea fans – is he the perfect complement for Kante in the midfield or should the Blues be looking to someone a little bit more creative?
