Chelsea ready to bid £49m

At 6ft 2in he’s got the natural frame for The Premier League. But he is also a highly mobile and quick player who can cope with even the fastest forwards.

The Italy international who made his debut for Italy this year, has two caps for his country and has been a stalwart for AC Milan playing 40 times for the club he signed for last summer.

Chelsea have been on the lookout for defensive reinforcements since Antonio Conte arrived and there is a feeling that the signing of David Luiz in the summer is only part of the solution.

John Terry still looks, when fit, to be Chelsea’s best centre back. But, at 35, the clock is ticking on his career. And, while injury has certainly stymied the progress of Kurt Zouma’s career, he is yet to fully convince that he can be the defensive kingpin for The Blues in the long-term.
