Chelsea reportedly keen on Kroos

With Manchester United having apparently ended their interest in Germany international Toni Kroos Chelsea could be ready to launch an audacious bid for the player, according to reports on Wednesday.

The Daily Mail reckons that, despite the player seemingly adamant on staying in Germany next season, Chelsea could make a bid at the end of next campaign.

Toni Kroos could still end up in the Barclays Premier League after claims Chelsea are ready to join the bidding if he becomes a free agent next year.

A proposed move to Manchester United may have collapsed, after new manager Louis Van Gaal decided against pursuing their interest, but the Bayern Munich midfielder remains at loggerheads with club bosses over renewing a contract that is entering its final 12 months.

You would imagine that all in sundry would want the 24 year old if he did let his contract run down at Bayern Munich. It seems that European heavyweights like Chelsea and Manchester United are able to offer better wages than Munich, who have a creditably strict wage cap for playing staff.

Recently the player ended speculation about an imminent move to England:

‘There has been a lot of speculation, but I won’t be going to Manchester United,’ he said. ‘I can tell you for sure I will be playing for Bayern Munich next season.’

The 24 year old has already amassed 42 caps for Germany – no mean feat in this golden generation for the national side – and he looks to be one of the stars of The World Cup this summer.

Chelsea are reportedly in the market for another midfielder this summer and Kroos can play inanumber of roles – all with aplomb. But his statement about staying in Germany means that the Stamford Bridge outfit would have to wait a year, at least, to enrol the maestro.
