Chelsea in talks for Spanish international

Despite a huge amount of speculation Chelsea are yet to get to make any major deals official yet this summer.

But that looks likely to change very soon with widespread reports that a couple of big deals are on the horizon.

And one area that Chelsea look likely to strengthen is in goal where they are said to be in talks with Spanish international Diego Lopez.

The vastly experienced 34-year-old stopper has just the solitary cap for Spain, at a time when Iker Casillas and David de Gea have dominated the goalmouth.

But he has played 387 games in a long career which has included stints at Real Madrid, Sevilla, Villarreal and AC Milan.

The Daily Mail reports:

Chelsea hold talks with AC Milan keeper Diego Lopez to provide back-up for No 1 Thibaut Courtois

Apparently The Blues have offered the Spaniard a three year contract and this could well spell the end for Asmir Begovic at Chelsea.

The 29-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international may well look for the first team action that will continue to evade him when Thibaut Courtois is fit at Stamford Bridge next season.

Everton are reportedly interested in the excellent Begovic, according to the same source.

Here are some of the better moments in the Milan career of Lopez. Chelsea fans: a decent understudy?
