Bid Made: Chelsea in contact with La Liga giants about 22-year-old rated at £42m – report

Chelsea will look to improve massively on last season under the tutelage of Antonio Conte and they may be lining up with Andre Gomes in their ranks come August.

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea have made contact with Valencia to enquire about the 22-year-old and have been quoted a huge fee:

Valencia set asking price of £42million for Chelsea target Andre Gomes

The Blues have made enquiries for the 22-year-old Portugal international

Despite his tender age, André Filipe Tavares Gomes has played 9 times for Portugal and he’s also racked up 77 games in Spain with Valencia with an impressive goal tally of 9.

The midfielder moved from Benfica in 2014 after 41 appearances and four goals in a really promising start to his senior career.

Chelsea are clearly looking to add dynamism to a midfield which didn’t show enough character last season as the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic went badly off the boil in their second full seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Reports earlier today suggested that Chelsea had actually lodged a bid for Gomes for around £32m but that it has been rejected by Valencia.

The Daily Mail report states that Chelsea are also still keen to bring Roma dynamo Radja Nainggolan to the club having had a £27m bid rejected by the Serie A club last week.

Here are some of Gomes best moments so far in his fledgling career. Chelsea supporters – would he enliven the midfield and does this mean Cesc is off?
