Chelsea want to sign another running machine – report

This one is interesting because the player in question would certainly fit the ethos of Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.

Belgian superstar Axel Witsel is said to be on the radar of Chelsea but it may not be a straightforward move, according to the Sun, who write:

Axel Witsel rejects Antonio Conte’s plea to become Oscar’s replacement at Stamford Bridge

Witsel is much more of a hard runner than Oscar, who possibly has more guile on the ball. But the Belgian international has been consistently brilliant throughout his career and his game must surely be suited to the Premier League.

He’s a quick and hard working player who also makes things happen and gets box to box with apparent ease.

The 27-year-old moved to Zenit St. Petersburg in 2012 for 40m Euros and has been a key member of the side scoring 22 goals in 174 games.

This Steady Eddie has represented Belgium 76 times and scored 8 goals in a career that has never nosedived.

TFF thinks that he would be a superb player for Chelsea and bring even more drive and speed to their midfield play. We also think that, despite the tone of the Sun’s headlines, that Witsel to Chelsea may well have further to run in January.

Let’s see some of his best moments over the last few years. Chelsea fans: the perfect addition to the squad in January?
