Chelsea have made contact with the representatives of Graziano Pelle about the prospect of adding him to their striking roster this summer.
The Daily Mail reports:
Chelsea have made contact with Graziano Pelle’s representatives though remain keen to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.
It isn’t clear whether Chelsea would countenance the purchase of Alvaro Morata, Pelle and the incoming Michy Batshuayi.
But it does seem ever more likely that Diego Costa will move on this summer after a turbulent season with fans and the club.
Pelle had an excellent EURO 2016 as he played in a two man attack – an unusual formation in the modern era – and perhaps new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is planing a similar formation as he did with Italy at EURO 2016.
And there is no doubt that the 30-year-old benefitted from the system as Italy surprised many with some swashbuckling performances before they were eliminated by Germany on penalties in the quarter-finals.
The former Sampdoria and Feyenoord man has also been a big success at Southampton since signing in 2014 with 30 goals in 81 appearances.
He’s an excellent target man with genuine power and precision. He may not be the fastest striker in the league but he certainly knows where the goal is and how to bring others into play.
Here are some of his better moments for club and country. Chelsea fans: a worthy addition?
