Chelsea now want £63m man as transfer speculation explodes

With a rapier move for Michy Batshuayi coming to a head, Chelsea are now said to be keen on a move for the brilliant Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez.

Despite a promising start to his career in Spain, Rodriguez has flattered to deceive of late and lost his guaranteed place in the team last season under Zinedine Zidane.

With talk of a Real Madrid mega-move for Paul Pogba, Rodriguez may be seen as a credible option to generate some serious cash this summer.

The Daily Mail writes:

Chelsea and Manchester City battling with PSG for Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez

And there would be no shortage of suitors in The Premier League if Rodriguez did become available.

Still just 24 James Rodriguez lit up The World Cup in Brazil 2014 and was quickly snapped up by Los Blancos.

He has played 78 times for Madrid, scoring 25 goals and made 48 appearances for Colombia with 16 goals to his name.

He’s got wonderful technique and a penchant for the unpredictable. He’s fast and fleet-footed but also pretty hard to knock off the ball. We feel that he would have the physique to cope with the demands of England.

Rodriguez signed for Real Madrid for £63m and any transfer fee would be fairly close to that. Chelsea shouldn’t expect to get too much change out of £50m if they do sign one of the top ten players in world football.

Here are some of his best moments in his stellar career. Chelsea supporters: worth all that money?
