Wales international boss Craig Bellamy is in talks with Burnley over becoming Scott Parker’s successor. Media reports suggest that advanced talks have taken place between the Championship club and the Welshman, with an agreement close.
Parker left after Burnley’s Premier League relegation

Scott Parker left Burnley by mutual consent on 30th April, shortly after confirmation that the Clarets would be playing Championship football in the 2026/27 season.
The former Fulham boss had previously guided the north west outfit back to the Premier League in season 2024/25, in a campaign where they mounted a 33-game unbeaten run, and kept 30 clean sheets.
However, the Clarets found the step in quality to the English top-flight too much, as they had won just four of their 34 games before Parker’s exit.
Bellamy was expected to stay with Wales for the 2028 Euros
Bellamy had been linked with the Burnley job when Parker exited the club. However, it seemed like he would be staying on as Wales boss through the 2028 European Championships, which will be based in England, Wales, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.
His contract with Wales runs until after the European Championships, but he now looks likely to leave his role.
A chance at club management for Bellamy
The Burnley job could be the right challenge for Craig Bellamy in the club game. He had previously worked at Burnley as assistant to Vincent Kompany, who left the club for German giants Bayern Munich in May 2024.
The Belgian boss has excelled in the Bundesliga, especially in season 2025/26 when the German champions enjoyed a record-breaking campaign.
Bellamy has had mixed results with Wales. However, he is considered a promising young head coach, having picked up some solid results with the Dragons.
Burnley have thrived in the Championship, having won promotion to the Premier League in their last two seasons in the English second tier.
Bellamy’s challenge will be to repeat the feat of winning promotion, and then attempt to keep the Clarets in the top-flight, something only Sean Dyche has done with the north west outfit.
