Diame to Liverpool?

West Ham’s Mohamed Diame said this week:

‘Liverpool? I can’t tell you if I will be a Liverpool player next season. But I think my name is still on their wanted list.

‘I don’t hide it, I’m ambitious and I want to join a top-six side. I am 26 years old and it’s time to take that step.’

We have always liked the player and he’s always looked as if he could go up a level or two if his fitness was good.

But injury hasn’t helped his career of late and that possibly stalled a move to Liverpool a couple of years back. But, unfortunately for Diame, Liverpool two years ago is very different from Liverpool now.

They will certainly need to strengthen the midfield areas in the summer but is Diame now good enough for that midfield?

Steven Gerrard’s is into the final few years of his career but is still a far better player than the Senegal international.

Beyond that Henderson has been a revelation this season and will continue to anchor the Liverpool midfield again next season.

Add Lucas and Joe Allen into the mix and you’ve got players who are hungry for success and have real natural ability.

So while we think that Liverpool will strengthen their midfield in the summer we aren’t sure that Diame would be seen as the right player to come in.

Liverpool fans is Dimae good enough for the club?
