Bad news for Chelsea on the transfer front?

Chelsea have had a superb season with few down sides.

But one of the very few sour notes is that there has been the looming spectre of big name departures come the end of the season.

Eden Hazard has been the subject of constant transfer speculation and Diego Costa is another whose future seems particularly uncertain.

Sky Sports reports this afternoon that:

Tianjin Quanjian are confident they will sign Diego Costa from Chelsea this summer.

They quote the owner of the club saying that the club has verbally agreed deals with two or three stars and this leads Sky to suggest that Costa could be one of those players.

They say that Costa is the club’s number one target and few Chelsea fans will currently be resting comfortably about his future.

The Spaniard seems to have everything at Chelsea. He’s the nailed on number one striker and plays for a team that is clearly on the up in England and in Europe under the inspired tutelage of Italian head coach Antonio Conte.

But something seems to have been awry for some time and Costa’s head appears to have been turned by the quite ridiculous sums being paid to players who are prepared to make the long journey to China.

Costa has been a revelation on the pitch at Chelsea since Jose Mourinho signed him in 2014. He’s scored 57 goals in just 115 games at a very healthy rate of one in every two games.

He’s not been an ever-present in the Spain set up but still has a decent record of 5 in 15 for his country.

Blues fans: is it time to cash in?
