€60m Manchester United Bid Reported

If reports are to be believed then Manchester United’s pursuit of a striker has ended up with La Liga marksman Alvaro Morata this summer.

The Real Madrid forward has been in out of the team this season but has scored 20 goals
for Los Blancos in just over 40 games for the club.

And reports in the British press this afternoon suggest that Manchester United have made a move for the player.

Sky Sports reported this afternoon:

Real Madrid have rejected a £52.4m (€60m) offer for striker Alvaro Morata from Manchester United, Sky in Italy understand.

The 24-year-old Spain international, who has scored eight goals in just 19 appearances for his country since his debut in 2014, has been a regular goalscorer at club level too wherever he has played.

He’s scored 31 goals in 95 games for Real Madrid over two spells. And in between he went to Juventus where he did a good job despite the huge competition for places.

There he scored 27 goals in 93 games over two seasons.

Morata is a Steady Eddie of a striker and someone who will most likely bang in 20 goals for Manchester United each season. He’s a composed and elegant player with genuine power and precision.

He may lack pace and we wonder whether he is good enough to decide games at the business end of the Champions League. But he would be an excellent addition to the Manchester United squad even if he would come for a hefty price tag.

Manchester United fans: Would this be a top buy or a slightly underwhelming signing considering the other names that have been mentioned in relation to Manchester United striker signings this summer?
