Brazilian starlet Endrick has revealed that he would like to stay at Lyon beyond this season. The youngster is currently on a season-long loan deal at OL from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Happy to stay with Lyon

Endrick joined Lyon in the January transfer window in search of regular first-team football ahead of the World Cup. The Brazilian international has enjoyed a strong run of form with the French team, scoring 8 goals and providing 7 assists in 19 games across all competitions for Lyon.

The forward has recently stated that he would like to stay with the French club. He told Ligue1+, “My future? I feel very good, I feel very happy here,”

“I’m happy with my teammates, and for the rest, I leave it to God. If I have to go back to Real Madrid, I’ll go back to Real Madrid; if I have to extend my contract here, it will happen, we’ll see. I’d like to stay here; everyone is doing their best to make me feel comfortable.”

Real Madrid are unlikely to sanction a permanent deal

While Endrick may have enjoyed his time in France, if he does extend his stay with the French club, it is likely to be another loan move, as reports suggest he is highly regarded by his parent club, and Los Blancos wouldn’t sanction a permanent move.

Whether Endrick stays with the Real Madrid first-team will be highly dependent on who the team’s head coach is next season. Former Castilla boss Álvaro Arbeloa is the current interim head coach in the Spanish capital.

However, he seems unlikely to be in the role beyond this season, with the likes of former Madrid bosses Jose Mourinho and Zinedine Zidane both recently linked with the job.

Endrick’s future could also be dictated by his performances for Brazil at the World Cup, if, as expected, he is selected in the Selecao’s squad and plays a prominent role for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
