Medical Today: First Mourinho signing due at Manchester United this afternoon – report

In news that will send tremors around the world of football, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho looks set to make his first signing for the club in the form of highly-rated young defender Eric Bailly.

The Daily Mail reports that Bailly is due in Manchester for a medical ahead of what some reckon will be a £30m move from Spanish club Villareal.

Eric Bailly will have a medical at Manchester United on Tuesday afternoon

The clubs have agreed a fee for the 22-year-old Ivory Coast international and he has arrived in Manchester to complete the finer details of his move.

The 22-year-old only joined the Spanish side at the beginning of last year but he has been a sensation for club and country, playing 46 games and scoring one goal for his club side, as a replacement for Gabriel Paulista (now of Arsenal).

At international level Bailly has played 15 times for The Ivory Coast since his debut last year.

He is still a little raw but ticks so many boxes already. He’s strong, vigilant, quick and has the sort of technique which could yet see him become a ball-playing centre back. But that engine should see him get straight into the side, possibly even as a right back to begin with – depending on who else Manchester United sign this summer.

But it looks increasingly likely that the young African will become the first signing of this new era for Manchester United. Here are some of his best moments so far.
