Everton: Exciting new name linked to January move

Everton have done big business already but there is a sense that they will move again in January if the right name enters the fray.

And a new link has surfaced to a Brazilian playmaker.

Local media outlet, The Liverpool Echo, passes this one on:

Everton and Sunderland are set to do battle for Ludogorets midfielder Jonathan Cafu, according to reports in Holland.

The 25-year-old has been increasingly successful for Ludogorets since he signed for them in 2015. This term he has scored 11 in 28 and these are particularly good statistics when you consider that Cafu is not a number nine. He can play through the middle but regularly pops up on the wing and could play in either role for Everton with confidence.

He has never played for the Brazil international team but that’s no disgrace given the quality on offer to the country – particularly in the forward areas.

What Everton would be getting is a pacy player with excellent technique and a natural eye for goal. Cafu is a direct player who may take time to adjust to the pace of the English league but, at 25, he has time on his side and could turn out to be a gem of a signing.

Everton could certainly use some more quality in the forward areas having lost Yannick Bolasie to serious injury in the autumn. Ademola Lookman has started his Everton career in promising fashion but we can’t expect too much from him too soon.

Everton fans – is this a player who could have an impact on the first team this season?
