Everton could sign stellar playmaker according to highly respected source

TFF has long held the opinion that Ronald Koeman will be Everton’s best signing of the summer whoever else they bring in.

But it hasn’t been their most convincing transfer window so far and you would have to expect some more big signings over the next few weeks.

Yannick Bolasie is probably on the way to Goodison and the highly respected British media outlet, The Times, reports that Everton are also taking a serious look at Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata.

They say:

Everton have explored the possibility of signing Juan Mata with it appearing that the Manchester United midfielder has no future at Old Trafford.

Despite his popularity with the fans, Mata has underwhelmed at Manchester United and clearly isn’t suited to the demands of wide areas in which he has so often been positioned.

But if Everton play him in by far his best position at number ten and put some really quick and athletic players around him, then he can definitely do the business and be a star at Goodison.

He lacks power and pace but has great technique and the likes of Leighton Baines, Seamus Coleman, Bolasie and Gerard Deulofeu would all complement the talents of the the Spaniard.

So this could be a good deal for all concerned. Jose Mourinho is clearly not his biggest fan and Everton could possibly expect to get him for between £20-25m – not bad for a Spanish international (10 goals in 40 games) in his prime years at 28 (29 next April).

Mata has played 105 times and scored 26 goals for Manchester United.
