A new manager and new investment has brought new hope too Everton fans, and with good reason.
Because even on a shoestring budget TFF feels that Ronald Koeman would do a great job at Everton.
But persistent reports state that The Toffees are prepared to enter the big league of transfers this summer with Kevin Strootman the latest to be linked.
The Express reports:
Everton could spend third of £100m transfer budget on Roma’s Kevin Strootman
After a fantastic start to his career the 26-year-old suffered a series of injuries which have really stymied his progress as a player.
You may remember that he was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in 2014 and, had he been fit, he would surely have joined Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.
But he has only made 41 appearances in three years at Roma and scored 6 goals.
The tough-tackling box to box passmaster has everything in his locker to be an absolutely top Premier League player if he can overcome the problems that have bugged him over the last three years.
Strootman has had three operations since damaging his ACL in 2014 and one would hope that he is young enough to completely recover.
If he does move Everton would be getting a remarkable player with great presence and quality.
Strootman has played 28 times for Holland and scored 3 goals. He has been a nailed on starter for The Netherlands whenever fit over the last 5 years.
Let’s see some of his career highlights. Everton supporters: a risky use of the kitty?
